While marbles and granites are commonly ground and polished to achieve a high gloss, many types of slatestone in Cungulla are too dense or textured for this treatment. In most cases, slatestone will be honed or finished to a flat or matte appearance. Honed slatestone typically exhibits a smooth, matte surface with minimal sheen.
